Llandudno Bay - 1545 hrs

Windy - Good Visibility

The ILB was launched at Llandudno after a call reporting a kite surfer being blown out to sea.  The ILB went out and recovered the kite but it transpired that the owner was on the shore and had never been in the water.  He was, however, extremely grateful to have his kite returned.

The ALB was launched after the Coastguard received several calls that red flares had been spotted off shore at Rhos-on-Sea  The ALB was launched at 2230 and, along with other boats, searched the area in the vicinity  Nothing was found and the search was called off at 0030 hrs  It appears the siting coincided with a meteor storm.

Little Orme - 1430 hrs

The ILB was launched at 1430 to assist with a party of canoeists at Angel Bay.  One girl had sustained a suspected broken leg and had been stabilized by the Coastguard  The ILB attended but the injured girl was taken to hospital by helicopter  The ILB then took the remainder of the party and their canoes to Rhos-on-Sea.

Conwy Bay - 2015 hrs

26 Knot wind with high sea swell - clear visibility

The ALB was launched at 2015 at the request of the Coastguard to a 21 ft. yacht which was aground between No.2 buoy and the shore  It was believed that one of the crew of two men had been in the water  When the ALB arrived they found only a metre of water so requested the helicopter and Conwy ILB to stand by in case they were required  With considerable skill the coxswain managed to get close enough to the yacht to get a line on board and towed it in to Conwy Marina.  The ALB then returned to Llandudno. The skipper of the yacht was Ken Johnson, a violinist with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra on his way to a concert in Llandudno the following day.
