Sarah Jane Turner - 1930 to 1931

In April 1930 Robert Williams took over as coxswain.  The Theodore Price was withdrawn from service in June 1930 and was replaced by the Sarah Jane Turner, another 27' self-righting lifeboat which has been built in 1901 for the Montrose Lifeboat Station.  The Theodore Price was sold locally and converted into a cabin cruiser and renamed "Maralic".  The first service launch for the Sarah Jane Turner was to the "Marlic".  The boat got into difficulties in the Conwy Estuary on 4th October 1930 and the Sarah Jane Turner was launched to go to her assistance at 1215.  Ultimately the "Maralic" was able to return to Conwy unaided and the lifeboat returned to Llandudno at 1645.

On 22nd October, 1930 an RNLI District Conference for lifeboat helpers from Branches and Guilds in North and Mid Wales was held in Llandudno with the Secretary of the RNLI, Mr George Shee, presiding.  During the afternoon session, Mr Shee presented a Gold Badge to Mrs Marks, the wife of the Honorary Secretary of the Llandudno Station, for her years of devoted hard work with the Llandudno Ladies Lifeboat Guild.

The only effective service to be performed by the Sarah Jane Turner whilst at Llandudno took place on 18th July, 1931.  She was launched at 0715 to go to the aid of the yacht "Frosette" which had two people on board.  The lifeboat escorted the yacht to Rhyl and returned to Llandudno at 2000.
