Penrhyn Bay - 18000 hours

Clear and calm

 

Whilst on exercise the ILB was diverted to assist two people in a small rubber dinghy which was drifting of Penrhyn Bay.  The ILB shepherded the dinghy and its occupants to the safety of Rhos-on-sea and then returned to Llandudno to continue on exercise.

Angel Bay, Little Orme  -  1930 hours

Clear and calm

 

The ILB was requested to launch following reports of a man in trouble by Angel Bay.  He was being assisted by two other men.  The Sea King helicopter was also requested to attend.  The ILB arrived on the scene at 1945 and took the man ashore.  He was then transferred to the helicopter and taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd at 1955.  The ILB then returned to station.

North Shore, Llandudno  -   1500 hours

Calm

 

The ILB went to the said of a man aged about 20 swimming at least 1/4 mile off shore and still heading out to sea.  The ILB brought him safely ashore and gave him some sea safety advice.  The ILB returned to station at 1545 hours.

West Shore, Llandudno  - 1415 hours

Calm

 

The ILB was called to assist when 50 people became stranded by the incoming tide on the West Shore sand banks.  The Coastguard was also in attendance.  The ILB ferried 22 people to safety whilst Conwy harbour launch picked up another eight and landed them safely on shore.  The remainder were guided on foot by the Coastguard to shore.  All were safe and well.

22nd July, 2006

Great Orme  -  1730 hours

Clear and calm

 

The ILB was requested to launch following reports of  woman who had been walking on a coastal path and had slipped and fallen down the cliff at Pigeons Cave.  She had suffered a knee injury.  The intention was for the Coastguard to lower the woman down the to lifeboat.  It was decided it would be safer for the women to winched off and the RAF Sea King helicopter attended and winched the woman up and she was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd.  During this time the ILB stood by and once the women was safely on board the helicopter the ILB returned to station.

23rd July, 2006

North Shore, Llandudno  -  1340 hours

Sunny and calm

 

The ILB was requested to launch following reports of a missing 8 year old boy in the vicinity of the paddling pool at Craig-y-Don and the Little Orme.  The ILB searched the shoreline between the paddling pool and the Little Orme whilst the RNLI shore crew together with the Coastguard and the Police searched the surrounding area.  The boy was found about 45 minutes later at the Rhos-on-Sea Golf Course.  It is not known how he got there or who found him.  The ILB returned to station at approximately 1430.

West Shore, Llandudno  -  2024 hours

Twilight - calm

 

The ILB was requested to launch following a call to the Coastguard reporting some lads on the sand banks.  The ILB was taken to the West shore where they were met by the Police who informed them that the lads had managed to wade ashore.  The ILB was stood down and returned to station.

25th July, 2006

Llandudno Bay - 1440 hours

Sunny  - Light Breeze

 

At the request to the Coastguard the ILB was launched following reports of an inflatable dinghy moving quickly seawards.  It was not known if there was anyone in the dinghy.  The ILB quickly found the dinghy with no-one on board.  The Coastguard requested the ILB to make a search of the bay in case there was anyone in the water.  Not finding anyone the ILB was stood down and returned to base at approximately 1500

25th July, 2006

Colwyn Bay Pier  -  1351 hours

Sunny and calm

 

The ILB was requested to launch following a request for assistance after a young girl had fallen overboard from a dinghy.  The ILB was half way to the scene when they were recalled.  Presumably the child had been picked up by someone else.

28th July, 2006

1654 hours

 

The Coastguard requested the ILB to launch to assist a broken down jet ski.  After launching the ILB was stood down following being informed that a passing boat had gone to the assistance of the jet ski and the ILB was no longer required.

30th July, 2006

Rhos-on-Sea - 1545 hours

Clear with an off shore breeze and choppy sea

 

The ILB was launched to go to the assistance of a 15 ft. speedboat which had broken down and was drifting about 1/4 mile from the Rhosneigr Buoy.  On board were three men and one woman.  The ILB took the casualty in tow and took them to the shore at Rhos-on-Sea where all were found to be safe and well.  The ILB returned to base at 1630 hours.

31st July, 2006

West Shore, Llandudno  -  1720 hours

Clear - Force 4

 

The Coastguard requested the ILB to launch following reports of a swimmer in difficulties off West Shore.  The ILB quickly located the swimmer, a Polish man in his 20's.  He was taken ashore and handed over to the Coastguard.  The man was unhurt.  The ILB then returned to station.

8th August, 2006

Conwy Bay  -  2315 hours

Misty Rain

 

The ALB and shore crew were requested to stand by following a call from a loan sailor in 36 ft. nobby en route from Holyhead to Conwy who was unsure of his position due to the deteriorating visibility caused by drizzle and poor visibility.  Conwy ILB were launched and they located the casualty in the vicinity of the fairway bouy and escorted him in to Conwy harbour.  Llandudno's ALB was then stood down.

24th August, 2006

Llandudno - West Shore - 2038 hours

Dusk - Calm

 

The ILB was launched from the West Shore following the Coastguard receiving a call from a member of the public that three small children were on the sandbank and cut off by the tide.  The children were seen running towards the life raft.  The ILB quickly located the children and took them off the raft and back to the shore where they were reunited with their parents.  It's believed they were all on a day trip from Ruthin.  The ILB then returned to station.

26th August, 2006

Penrhyn Bay - 0800 hours

Drizzle - Calm

 

The ILB was requested to launch following a call to the Coastguard reporting the body of a woman in the sea off Penrhyn Bay.  The ILB launched and located and recovered the body from the vicinity of Angel Bay.  The body was brought ashore and handed over to an undertaker.  The Police were also in attendance.  The ILB returned to station at approximately 1030 hours.
