Crew member Daniel Darbey on a course at the
RNLI College at Poole
Congratulations to crew member Dave Davis on completing his training and becoming a fully qualified coxswain.
Lifeboat Mechanic, Les Jones, receiving his Long Service Award from Andy Clift on 7th July, 2007

Buckingham Palace Garden Party

In July 2008 Coxswain Dan Jones and his wife Jean were invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate Dan’s 23 years of service, the last 14 of which have been as coxswain.

Dan met the RNLI president, The Duke of Kent, and chatted to him about the trip the Duke took on the Andy Pearce, Llandudno’s all weather lifeboat, some years ago with Dan as coxswain.

The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Anne were also present at the garden party which took place on a hot sunny day.

Awards

Both Llandudno Lifeboat crew and crew member Tim James have received awards in a competition entitled “Your Champions” run by Trinity Mirror and Scottish Power.  The crew won the  group award and Tim the individual and champion of champions award.  It’s extremely unusual for both awards to go to the same organisation.  Full details of the rescue that culminated in these awards can be found on this web site under call outs 2008 pages 3 and 4.

Llandudno are extremely proud of these awards and of every one of the crew members who are always available to go to the assistance of anyone in trouble at sea.
