9th August, 2009  -  1553 hours

Colwyn Bay

 

The ILB was requested to launch to go to the aid of a boat which had sunk and the three people on board were in the sea in the vicinity of Colwyn Bay Pier.  Whilst the ILB was being taken by road to Colwyn Bay they received information that other boats in the area had taken the people out of the water and they were all safe,  The ILB was stood down and returned to station at approximately 1614 hours.

17th August, 2009  -  1508 hours

North East of Llandudno Bay

Rough seas

 

The ILB was requested to launch following the receipt of a call from an angling vessel “Insensitive” which was 6 miles north east of Llandudno Bay where one man on board had been taken ill.  The Coastguard established a radio link with a hospital doctor and they were advised to evacuate the casualty.  The ILB crew than transferred the casualty and one other person on to the ILB and returned to jetty where an ambulance was waiting.  The casualty was then transferred to the care of the ambulance crew.  The ILB then returned to station.

25th August, 2009  1400 hours

Llandudno Bay

 

The Coastguard requested the launch of the ILB following reports of a young boy in the sea by the North Shore slipway.  By the time the ILB arrived at the scene a member of the public had managed to recover the boy who was unconscious.  An ambulance was also on site and the boy, who had regained consciousness, was taken by ambulance to Glan Clwyd hospital.  The ILB was stood down and returned to station.

13th September, 2009

Colwyn Bay  -  1212 hours

 

The ILB went by sea from Llandudno to Colwyn Bay to go to the assistance of 16 foot fibreglass speedboat with two males on board.  The craft had broken down 1 ½ miles north east of Colwyn Bay pier.  The ILB soon located the casualty and took it in tow to Colwyn Bay pier slipway.  Both males on board were uninjured.  The ILB returned to station at approximately 1315 hours.

27th September, 2009

Great Orme  -  1355 hours

 

The Coastguard requested the assistance of Llandudno’s ILB to search for a 45 year old man who had gone missing in the vicinity of the Great Orme.  The lifeboat was launched from Llandudno’s north shore and whilst the lifeboat searched along the shore and caves of the Great Orme the Police and Coastguard searched on land.  The man was found by Police at 1550 hours and the ILB was stood down and was recovered at the west shore and returned to station.

4th October, 2009

Conwy Bay  -  1235 hours

 

The ALB was launched at 1235 following a mayday call from the 30’ yacht Anliska, with three people on board, which had suffered steering failure.  When the Andy Pearce arrived on scene it was found that the casualty had managed to limp into Conwy Harbour assisted by another local boat.  After confirming that their assistance was no longer required, and that everyone on board was alright, the Andy Pearce returned to station at approximately 1400 hours

8th October, 2009

Colwyn Bay Pier  -  1920 hours

 

The ILB was requested to stand by at Colwyn Bay pier, in case needed, following reports that a man had climbed over the security gate and was at the end of the derelict pier.  The tide was out at the time and it was feared that he may decided to jump.  The helicopter, police and coastguard were also in attendance.  The man returned safely to the shore of his own accord was and taken into care by the police.  The ILB returned to station

26th October, 2009

Conwy Bay  -  1810 hours

 

The ALB was launched at the request of the Coastguard who had received a call from a person on a mobile phone to say that his yacht,  the 26’ Arrowhawk, had suffered engine failure and fuel line problems.  The Coastguard attempted to call him on his mobile and it took several attempts before they could reach him.  As he was unsure of his position both Llandudno’s ALB and Conwy’s ILB went to look for him.  He was located by one of the channel buoys and taken in tow by the ALB.  He was taken to Conwy Marina and Conwy’s ILB stayed close by.  After leaving him in Conwy the ALB then returned to Llandudno at approximately 2000 hours.

17th November, 2009

Llandudno - Great Orme & Little Orme  -  0700 hours

 

The ILB was requested to launch to assist in a search for a missing 81 year old local man who suffers from dementia and hadn’t been seen since 1800 hours yesterday (Monday).  The ILB carried out a search round the Little Orme and the Great Orme whilst the shore crew searched both the north and west shores.  The helicopter from RAF Valley was called in to carry out an overhead search.  With nothing being found the ILB was stood down some 2 hours later.  The man’s body was found about mid-day near a cafe on Marine Drive, following an extensive search not only by the RNLI and RAF Valley but also the Coastguard, Police and Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue.

31st December, 2009

Llandudno - West Shore - 1640 hours

 

Both lifeboats were put on standby following a 999 call after a note had been found to the effect that the person intended committing suicide.  Several crew members and Coastguard officers made a land search of the West Shore area but were stood down 1715 hours after the person had been found by the Police.
