25th December, 2010 Llandudno North Shore - 2115 hours
Llandudno RNLI inshore lifeboat crew was called out by Holyhead Coastguard at 9.15 p.m. on Christmas Night to help in an extensive local search for a missing person. A 26 year-old man, understood to be vulnerable due to a medical condition had earlier been reported missing in the resort, and there were fears that he may have entered the sea or otherwise come to harm in the freezing conditions. As a result the lifeboat and her crew stood by on Llandudno's promenade ready for immediate launch if needed whilst coastguards and North Wales Police searched the area, aided by the Police helicopter. Fortunately the missing man was located half an hour later and the search called off at 9.45 p.m.
(The lifeboat and her crew were due to return to the promenade some twelve hours later for the station's annual date to act as Safety Boat for Llandudno Lions' 'Boxing Day Dip'). |
